Bridge to Wellness: Community Doula Training for Resilient Populations

Published on December 15, 2025

Doula care bridges the gap between medical and emotional support in our community. We are more than birth companions—we educate women about their bodies and options, help them process trauma, and empower them to redefine motherhood on their own terms. As Community Doulas, we support the whole person and family in all areas of wellness, fostering resilience and helping them build a vibrant future.

The Community Doula Training Program with San Antonio Birth Doulas is an extensive initiative offering over 100 hours of education on essential topics like ethics, trauma-informed care, and specialized support for birth, postpartum recovery, and mood disorders. It equips participants with the skills to provide compassionate, informed care while fostering connections within the community and supporting vulnerable populations.

Key topics include birth support through positions and comfort measures, postpartum recovery, mood disorders, childbirth education, newborn care, and breastfeeding.

The welcome email will also include information about an optional monthly virtual session, where you can join the curriculum developer, Shelley Courtaway, for a deeper dive into the material.

Training Structure:

  • You will complete nine self-paced online modules, each followed by a post-test.
  • Please ensure that you watch all videos in full and complete the post-test immediately after each module by March 15, 2026.
