Catholic Charities celebrates its newest client choice pantry

In one month, the newest Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada St. Vincent's Client Choice Pantry fed nearly 7,000 people.

Thursday afternoon, they celebrated the location on 435 Eureka Avenue with a ribbon-cutting and grand opening.

"People are gravitating toward coming to the client choice pantries. Some of that is also just numbers of people that might have already been pantry utilizers but wanted this opportunity to pick out their own food," said Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada CEO Marie Baxter.

Free Dental Clinic Brings Dozens to Shady Grove

When registration opened for the University of Maryland School of Dentistry's spring Mission of Mercy (MOM) clinic, the slots were gone almost immediately. The school and Catholic Charities formalized their partnership in fall 2022, holding the first Shady Grove Mission of Mercy in April 2023. The program, which provides free dental care to underserved adults, now runs twice a year at Shady Grove.
