With $150,000 Archdiocese donation, St. Patrick Center races to rehouse hotel residents

With just days remaining before the Mark Twain Hotel officially closes its doors, a community-wide rehousing push is underway in downtown St. Louis. When the sudden closure was announced, it left 168 active residents facing immediate displacement. In response, a dozen regional outreach agencies mobilized under the coordination of the local Continuum of Care.

To help ease the transition, the Archdiocese of St. Louis stepped up, donating $150,000 to Catholic Charities Ministry St. Patrick Center to assist displaced tenants with first month’s rent, security deposits, and essential furniture. Still, finding immediate stability for everyone is a monumental task.
