Edison moves toward long-term lease extension with homeless shelter

A homeless shelter for women and families on former Camp Kilmer property would continue operating for at least another 10 years under a lease extension supported by the Township Council.

Township officials said the lease extension to 2035 will allow Catholic Charities to apply for a grant to improve the shelter facilities. The current property lease expires in 2029, and the organization needed a lease that would run for at least five more years to be eligible for the grant.
