Trump budget cuts: Catholic Charities braces for end of AmeriCorps programs for seniors

Two community service programs for seniors in Greater Cincinnati are facing closure in September because Catholic Charities officials say they can't afford to run them unless President Donald Trump changes his mind about gutting AmeriCorps.

The leaders of Catholic Charities Southwestern Ohio said in a July 21 statement that the Trump administration's decision to withhold $200 million in AmeriCorps funding nationwide will force the dismantling of both the Foster Grandparents program and the Senior Companions program.
