ASHTABULA - The annual Point in Time Count raises awareness about homelessness in Ashtabula County. The service-based count is a seven-day process that records people meeting the criteria of homelessness in the county. The Ashtabula County Housing Council, which consists of organizations that provide solutions to individuals and /or households facing housing and basic needs challenges in the community, conducts the count. “It helps remind us of why we do what we do,” Jill Valentic, the executive director of Catholic Charities of Ashtabula County and coordinator of the count, said. “And that is to help people climb out of their situation of homelessness.”
