Tampa Hope opens site for free medical care for homeless

A new care station in Tampa that provides virtual medical services to people experiencing homelessness is the first of its kind at shelters in the U.S., officials said Wednesday. Tampa Hope, which is run by Catholic Charities in part through a $1 million partnership with the city, has served about 1400 residents since 2021 at a shelter on E. Third Avenue. The facility provides, shelter, food and other services including case management for job training, education and mental health counseling to homeless people.
