Catholic Charities Warming Center prepares for subzero temperatures

Published on January 22, 2026

As temperatures are expected to fall well below zero degrees, Catholic Charities Warming Center in La Crosse is making sure they can help as many unsheltered individuals as possible.

They have already increased capacity at the shelter from 34 to 44 people.

“We have enough chairs. Luckily, Mayo donated all the chairs. We have overflow chairs, up to 47 chairs in the facility,” says Catholic Charities Warming Center coordinator Karla Hein.
