Nearly 10,000 first-time families visit Galveston food pantry

With nearly 9,500 first-time households seeking help during the past year, the demand for food at the Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston food pantry pushed beyond levels seen during the Covid-19 pandemic. The Beacon of Hope Isle Market distributed more than twice the amount of food in the past year, nearly 750,000 pounds, from 331,000 pounds distributed the prior year.
