Winona commission supports St. Paul’s rezone

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church’s proposal to house a 24-hour day and overnight shelter has returned to city hall with support from community members and city officials. On September 14, the Winona Planning Commission recommended approval of a rezone required to make the shelter a reality, a change which the Winona City Council will have final say on. Community members emphasized the value of a shelter and importance of caring for the homeless, as well as giving the church more options for how to use its property.
