Domestic violence awareness initiative to kick off in the Southern Tier

Catholic Charities of Chemung & Schuyler is set to kick off its annual initiative during the first week of October to raise awareness for domestic violence in the Southern Tier.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and this year, Catholic Charities will continue to raise awareness through the #Every1KnowsSome1 campaign, which seeks to highlight how common domestic violence is across the country and in your own neighborhood. This campaign is recognized nationally through the National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV) and the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence (PCADV).

Ribbon-cutting ceremony held for new resource in fight against food insecurity

On Tuesday, Union Health and the Lugar Center for Rural Health held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Food Locker at Union Hospital in Terre Haute.It’s for patients who are screened as food insecure during intake. Once the patient is discharged from the hospital, they can pick up a bag of food from the locker. The food is provided by Terre Haute Catholic Charities.

Shutdown or not, aid groups must anticipate impact
