Sr. Sally Ann Brickner receives Governor’s Service Award

When Sr. Sally Ann Brickner learned the Diocese of Green Bay was going to assist in the resettlement of Afghan refugees, she knew she wanted to help.

“Instead of just sitting here in my closed doors locked in during COVID, (I thought) ‘If there’s a need, I can do something,’” she said. “I contacted Catholic Charities to see if there was anything I could do for them.”

Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Green Bay, which began receiving Afghan refugees in November of 2021, took Sr. Sally Ann up on her offer. With enthusiasm, she took on any project presented to her in the fast-paced resettlement effort.
